Florida Panhandle Saddle Club

History

Florida Panhandle Saddle Club was founded in 1981 with the first shows being held at W.F. Mason Arena off Hwy. 20 East in Blountstown. Skeet Davis and a group of dedicated men and women went to the Board of County Commissioners to request property to build an arena to form the club. This group of men and women went to the local bank to borrow money to build an arena and purchase necessary equipment to establish a permanent site.  The County Commissioners granted the club 10 acres in Sam Atkins Park on a 25 year renewable lease paying $1 a year.

When the club first started having shows, it had both pleasure and timed events, bringing families and friends together from all over the tri-state area.

HISTORY OF ARENA
The arena was built in 1981 at the Sam Adkins Park by volunteers with help from the FFA students from Blountstown. In 1999, after the untimely death of the longtime president and one of the club founders, Skeet Davis, the club decided to name the arena in his honor as a special tribute for his dedication to the club.
